I am fiscally conservative by nature, a sensible social moderate and Green when it makes sense.

I don't have to be your first vote, but I'd really appreciate being your second.

Bio

For many of you the name Warland does not carry much familiarity in Pakenham or anywhere else for that matter. If you live in Cedar Hill area, you may know me as the guy who bought the Anderson Farm. You may know me as the guy who married Jim Schlievert’s daughter Cindy. Others may have heard the name Warland as my parents, Frank and Ann from Beckwith, played in the Almonte senior curling league.

So who am I?

I am 45 years old and have lived in Pakenham for 13 years. I believe that we need new and younger people representing Pakenham at the Council table.

I grew up in Kanata and graduated Earl of March High School. I went to Algonquin College for Computer Systems Technician. I started my career in the IT field at Mitel as a computer operator. In 1990 I became an IT consultant working mainly for the Federal Government as well as Stentor (Bell Canada). For the past 10 years I have been working at Citizenship and Immigration Canada maintaining their computer systems world wide. And no, I’ve never travelled anywhere as it is not necessary and it would be on your and my tax dollar.

In 1998, the amalgamation of Pakenham into Mississippi Mills doubled the price of rink rentals for the Pakenham Men’s Hockey League, with no increased benefit.

In 2003, being an IT consultant, that Pakenham and the rural areas be serviced with high-speed internet and made that recommendation for the Community Official Plan.

My community involvement includes coaching rec hockey and soccer at the Stewart community center. I am an NCCP certified football coach and coached for the West Carleton Wolverines for four years. I was a special advisory to the Board of Directors of the Lanark Landowners Association; founding member and author of the Constitution of the Canadian Property Rights Coalition (CRPC); founding member of the Alliance for Fair Taxation which is an alliance between the CPRC, MMRA and Appleton Community Association. I am currently the Chair of the Environmental Advisory Committee and the Chair of the Waste Diversion Committee for the Town of Mississippi Mills.

I am a fiscal conservative by nature, a sensible social moderate, and green when it makes sense and is cost effective.
